LIVE ON TOP BUT KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND

Stripes top &Lace skirt All customized | Stilletos Janilyn — also used in this post Renaissance)  | Silver watch Omega | Sunnies  Glam Effect by Keren Tan | Emerald jewelry set Gems Jewelry International in BKK

This post is long overdue. I intended to post this before my most recent trip but time circumstances didn’t spare me time. Boohoo. I left my laptop at home and I’m not that comfortable in using my iPad for posting blog entries. Hehe. But glad to know that I still read messages from readers! And oh, I just knew about 4 new readers of my blog last night. (Yay! Coming from an unpopular style blogger) How? Well, they extended their admiration through Facebook chat. Cute! Thanks you! I really appreciate your effort and boldness in saying all those things!

It has been weeks since I last posted in my blog and, honestly, I’m piled with outfit shots in my drive! I’ve been in and out of Davao, trying to figure out a more stable path.

Let me share this with you. With the thoughts I made and encounters I had, it never fails me to believe an idea that will always guide you all throughout. An idea that anyone should bear in mind (forever? Haha) and no less than practice it too.  When you plan and try hard to reach the top, two things should be kept in mind. One, in the process of working your ass to your crown, DO NOT STEP ON ANYONE. Even with pressure, it’s never good to take advantage of people and their weaknesses for the sake of your brief success. I mean, that is just pure evil! If some people are in your way, you have to persist. Try different things before learning what really works for you. I think doing the same thing is not enough. If you aim high from a dirty course of attitude, it is possible that you also drag some negative vibes on to your victory bubble. So what’s the way out? Refuse to dip into the mud in the first place.

Second, when you’re sure you have taken a big step to success, KEEP YOUR CLEAN FEET ON THE GROUND. I know that you all know, what that means – humility. It’s when people gives you compliments your personality, praises your works and flatters your way of thinking, you stay modest about it. You shouldn’t act as if you are the only best thing that ever happened to everyone. Thinking you are different than anybody else may either make you or break you. Get a grip of yourself! The only difference between you and other people is that you see things from a different stance. Do not be arrogant and carried away by the flood of prizes you get.

Even when you’re still in the course of success, act as if you already succeeded. It does make a difference. But be humbly positive and enjoy life!

Alright! On the fashion segment, this not so conventional corporate look describes me I guess. Trying to pull of singe-strand jewelry, I keep an eye on looking posh-smart. Achieve ko ba? (Did I achieve it?) Haha!

Comment your heart out!

TRAVEL TO LEARN

Have you ever thought about pitching all bad things and go somewhere far far away? Of course you have; I’m saying we all do. I am thinking most people dream of traveling around the world. Some may do this with business on the other edge. But each of these persons would love to just tour around (that includes picture-takings) and shop their hearts away! I mean, who wouldn’t find it irresistible to see the hustling America, romantic Europe, staggering Africa and exquisite Asia. If you have this dream, don’t give up and do something about it! Don’t just scroll through photo streams of remarkable sceneries and lip smacking dishes.

However, remember to learn to put a price tag on a dream. This way, you’ll have the best worth for your money. Then, make your itinerary! This is where your initial excitement exudes! When you’re already on the road, construct your own “statement to save” – such as “Is this activity worth a day?” and “Will I get a better worth with it during night?” (But sometimes, it doesn’t work! Haha!) What’s important is the delight, fulfillment and awareness you’ll gain.

Why am I sharing these matters? For me, it’s one way of unearthing an answer to a personal issue. Ok, this is deep. Haha! For a long time, I’ve been in crossroads with decisions in living abroad. My mother has been very supportive of this idea (Dad’s so clingy) and I really appreciate it. She told me to pray hard about it. And yes, I did and still am. Maybe you’re asking what I am planning to do there; Well, I am to work or study or both. Alone! I know it’s going to be very hard for me – who never tried living away from home. Another thing, I am not that street smart, thus, I have a tendency to depend on particular people around me! Oh gosh. I just extremely hope that my destination would make things certain and meaningful for me. Do you have any ideas of the places in my list? The choices I’m facing are Bangkok, New Zealand, Italy, Singapore, Australia and New York. My mother wants New Zealand because the environment is less stressful. But as of this writing, we are now more inclined with New York. Ironic, I know! Nevertheless, as long as I am able to survive and gain more wisdom, the heavens will guide me!

On to our fashion content, the flag print on my top inspired me to write about what I’m going through right now. Although UK is not in my choices, I love the country and all the things printed with their flag on. It’s a quick-witted print solution to every style blogger!

And oh, how I love my new sleek heels.

What do you think of the look?

FLORAL EDGE

Dress and vest Sister’s | Boots Coute |Necklace From my mom

Okay, before anything else, I am sharing to you that I am writing this post while eating huge marshmallows, home-made S’mores and pancakes with some good soundtrack as background from an American series I am currently addicted to. Now, it’s really sinking down that I’m actually singing along with the songs. Haha. With feelings and dance moves. Haha. Yes yes, facial expressions, too!  In fact, there are a lot of things I’m very much comfortable doing while blogging. Can you take a guess? Don’t make me start with how my body (specifically my legs) is positioned! Looking at myself, it simply gives me a couple of seconds to laugh. Even so, who wouldn’t like to do some activity in a situation which she/he is feeling well-suited. Come’ on!

On to the look, I wanted to portray something casual that says there is something more with floral dresses.  The warm-shade dress does not just show small floral prints but also has layers after the semi-empire-cut from the top.  So what do I mean by “something more with floral..”? Simple, consider different moods other than feeling too breezy. Let’s say from what I wore, with a girly sleeveless dress, I added an acid-washed denim vest with ankle-booties. This way, the entire look appears edgier. Another example, a maxi floral dress layered with a blazer in bold dark color (Don’t forget to choose the hue that is present in the flora dress). Spice it up with chunky dark necklaces, single-stone earrings and a studded clutch. With the shoes, I prefer not to show them with maxi’s (except if there’s a sexy slit). But an adorable wedge will do.

What do you say?

RAIN FOREST

AWKWARD SMILE :D

Teal top Express | Chocolate shorts Oxygen | Clogs PRP | Stone necklace From Sri Lanka

There is a saying in my mind “When in doubt, wear shorts.” Yup! Some bloggers are also hesitant with the looks they make – base from some bloggers I know in the country. I mean, style bloggers aren’t robots who automatically think of an outfit, do it then look perfect. Most of the time, there’s a trial and error phase. Let’s say for both ladies and gents, wearing shorts is a safe line to stay hip. This is where mix & matching comes in. Whether you buy new stuff or re-use clothes, having all the rage feeling tones down to right styling. Style it in a different way and you’ll grasp a wider picture of looks.

This post shows a safe approach to pairing shorts with a loose blouse. Nothing but a stone necklace to match the rain forest-themed (Haha!) look is what I needed. The long-sleeved top had plunging front and back seams exposing skin! I love it! Last thing, fewer complications happen when you pair heels on the same hue with the shorts you’re wearing. Why? It’s quicker to get the drift and turns out that you have long legs!

What do you think? Would love to hear from you!

A THOUGHT I WANT TO SHARE

Dress Local Bazaar | Shoes Satchi Store | Scarf Calvin Klein | Mickey M. necklace and earrings HK Disneyland

First thing’s first, I apologize for posting another look after more than a week — Been caught up with a lot of things going on in my mind. Though I’m going to say this just now, I totally admit that many people may enter your life (and maybe get to know a part of you) but all of them won’t stay beside you forever (or at least the time you thought it’d last). It’s fun meeting different people! We build relationships with friends and people around us by fondness of each other. But it takes no less than boldness and ingenuousness to preserve sincerity to each other. Right? Even celebrities know for certain that most of their people connections they encounter and create are going to last for a particular duration. Of course, these celebrities wouldn’t be entering the industry without being prepared for some raw scraps! Same thing with ordinary citizens, learning to let go of people is essential to hoard spaces for more deserving ones.

I’m glad I am able to do lines about what I am currently feeling. So I think the outfit matches how I feel. In some itsy-bitsy way, I am pretentious of the differing and puzzling circumstances happening. The black jersey dress reminds me of how I sometimes look aloof from reality. I missed a few important things in life. But that doesn’t speak the whole of me. That is why, a good bright color on me (as what I’ve noticed – Haha!) will add a turn of phrase in an insensate sentence. Teal lifts my attitude! Not only the look but the aura I’ve been having.

Thus, remember this, my dear readers: Allow yourself to release your should-be emotions. Love yourself and go against the grain. When you fail at some point, stand up and say “I’ll open another door.”

LESS EFFORT

Cropped top Sister’s | Pants & Sunnies SM Dept Store | Shoes So Fab! | Gold belt Bought in Thailand | Necklace From Mom - similar to my Minnie Mouse post|

A day full of errands for me means a casual get-up is practical. Nothing beats comfort, right? Why go on 6-inch heels when you tend to go running down the streets or driving downtown all day. What’s the secret of fabulous icons doing this tasteful fascination? It is in the heel’s design sans the sensible sporting of the comfiest clothes in town! Higher heels go better with higher platforms. Less stress for your feet! But lately, I tend to buy more stilettos with flat platforms. Haha! Ironic, isn’t it? My sole reason is it makes your feet look sexier.

Quite the opposite of what I just said above, my footwear for this look made it flash. Pastel blue top and skinny black jeans – two things you could perfectly pair with metal-furnished items. Tell me, do the gold reflections charm you? I think they do! From the accessories to the belt to the footwear, simply divine, I say. Oh and by the way, (believe it or not) this heel-less shoes secure you from doing those errands.

What do you think of the look?

Living in a tropical country has its pros and cons and I (with this look) have tried to stay poised under the changing weather conditions. It could be hard for someone, who wears something too wrapped up or overly exposed wardrobes, when the atmosphere suddenly changes. A good way to feel comfortable with both what you’re wearing and the environment you are in is to come across dresses or tops made from light material. Generally, the light weight clothes should gladden you with ease and gentleness. Because there is nothing that aids you best in strutting down but solace in confidence. Then again, one should have a go on fabrics that gives warmth (An example is leatherette clothing). Wearing clothes made from leather or leatherettes don’t just set a limit to feeling cozy and heated up but also modish and well-suited (with style tweaks, of course!)

How does the look relate to what I described above?

NOT A NUNDAY

Tee Sister’s | Skater skirt Forever 21 | Flats Gift to my sister | Belt SM Dept Store | Necklaces Accessorize and From Bangkok

What do you get if one Sunday you feel so jolly? A relaxed productive day! Most people use Sundays as their rest days — A day where they can just bond all day with their loved ones or just cuddle with them in bed. Some use it as either work-out or pig out day. Some? Still a work day.  How come I feel different that day? No headache, hangover, tantrums nor too much cheerfulness! Too much of an emotion sometimes leads to expectations then disappointments. That is why; a pleasant mix of sentiments would be very much enjoyable for you and for the people around you. Share a happy thought and inspiring advice!

Now about the look, the first time I saw a tee fabricated like this worn by Sarah Jessica Parker 3 years ago I was already inlove with it! I couldn’t help but love the simplicity and comfort it gives. Whether you like overdressing yourself or playing plain & simple, it is a definite must-have! It’s effortless with anything. My denim skater skirt, used also in ALL FUN CANDIDS post, has been overused by my youngest sister. So it may look shabby already. But what not! I still love it. Anyone should have a thing about when to use certain clothes more than once. This way, you don’t spend too much on buying new apparel everyday!

What do you think of this jolly “non-nunday” look?

RENAISSANCE

Dress Morina (Fashion de Paris) | Stilettos Janilyn | Stone necklace Mom’s gift | Pearl bracelet Macy’s.com

What comes first in your mind when pleats and ruffles are combined? Old-style renaissance. Women mostly would grace these kinds of textures decades ago. Large ruffles will be a sleek trend this 2013! Many Hollywood events have offered few body-contouring dresses with patched big waves, ruffles! I guess that’s one way to modernize a fashion fad from long ago.

On a parallel outlook, I told you there’s going to be another post for a pleated couture! — Check my BLUE VALENTINE post. Pleating is one of the best way to add texture to a material. I also find it not that easy to do: It means doubling the fold of the cloth, pressing it in and stitching it into place. For pattern-makers and designers, the fullness of pleats is like the core of it all! It’s the thing that defines the appearance of the clothing – whether the pleats are to be sewn fully or partially. So definitely needs keen forming and attention.  :)

Hence, with the getup I gave, no additions of matter that will emphasize my body shape were made. Because the sheer fabric of the dress is already modish and a lighter sheer shade on top is really clever(!); I made it to a point that a single strand pearl bracelet and stone necklace were enough.

So what do you say?

DAY TO NIGHT

Belt SM Dept Store |  White polo ZS  | Plaid skirt Japanase brand  | Stilettos ASOS

Last Saturday night, I finally met up with a few of my city’s fashion bloggers. They were all approachable and friendly. As usual, I get the shy-type first impression thing. But I had fun listening to stories over dinner at Bon Appetit! Getting to know them made me realize how really small the world is! Next time, I’ll treat them (for sure). Since I can giggle over the dialect’s expressions, it’s not far from having my usual refined day outs and web chats with bloggers from Manila.

A look I can grab on from day to night! It’s not much of an elegant appearance but I think it’s more of an urbane professional strutting her way downtown. Yes? On a cloudy afternoon, one could go down on subdivisions or store shops tagging along a dog – that goes with strappy flats and sunglasses though. At night, stilettos will do for a work meeting or dinner out with friends.

What do you think of the look?

BLUE VALENTINE

Top Sweetheart | Skirt Vintage | Belt SM Dept Store | T-strap Heels ShoesOne | Necklaces Gifts from my mom | Watch Omega | Earrings Loalde

Perfect title for thiost! Should I still explain why? Intriga ito! Haha

This is what I actually wore during Valentine’s Day this year (but posting it a week after Valentines). Because I was feeling so blue with how things are going in this aspect of my life, I better yet wear the color literally. However, the day turned out to be on the contrary. I felt a lighter happy feeling! Maybe that explained why I chose bright cool colors to surround me. Why should one be weeping when family and real friends genuinely care for you? Loved ones are there to support you (no matter what)! Always there to give you constructive criticisms and stirring compliments.

For the look, a mix of light shades of the blue hue came up and what have I thrown in the towel, is plain white! White says pure and light. Don’t get me wrong but I think this is a proud look I can show for simplicity and ease. The top which is originally a swimsuit and the plastic leaves necklaces speaks about a trouble-free fix. Another thing noticeable is pastel colors are used. A touch of carnation pink above, weightless grey and orange-y fawn in the middle. Oh and what’s not to like about pleats! Can you see how adorable those small pleats are done on the skirt?

How do you find the look?

COMBAT IN

Tank top Mango | Skirt, jacket and boots Sisters’ | Watch From Auntie | Stone necklace From Nepal | Yin-Yang necklace From China |

I’m ready to be in a music festival! Each year, I look forward to many of them. These festivals bring out a different side of you. It depends on the festival’s year theme that makes each guest unique (whether it may be the country, music genre or holiday). The best part? The performances and much much social activities! You get to mingle with different people and different nationalities. You also get to sing your lungs out and dance like crazy! Some of my favorites are Laneway Festival in Singapore, Summerfest in the US, Coachella  in the US, Desert Rock Festival in Dubai, Donauinselfest in Austria and Mayday in Germany.

Some music festivals are done for a cause. Let’s say for the benefit of the local community and amateur musicians. The rationale behind the festivals is the expression of a message through music. Of course, the performers expect feedback from the audience, as well as, learn ideas from other artists.

Going to my look, using Aztec print is a popular way of setting that mood on for an outdoor festival. Along with high combat boots and hip rider jacket? You’re good!

What do you say?

It’s the day for love! Love which is always associated with the red color is the best way to answer the question “Do you already have something to wear on Valentine’s Day?”(Though, this isn’t what I wore on Valentine’s – hehe)

Am I right? This outfit suggests a plain sophisticated aura for women. We are used to the kinky, colorful and cutie appearance. So peep on the other usual flair!

To my readers who saw my post on this: NOT MY KIND OF RED, it is still not my color. Mainly because, for me, it doesn’t match my skin tone. Everytime I look at the mirror wearing a top or dress in its color, I feel awkward and off. But what not! I chose to style it safely. That’s my trick! The look may look blunt at first, but, the silk loose button-down made it flashy! This button-down made me feel like I’m lying down on a Queen bed!

FEELING TALL

Denim top Mom’s | Maxi skirt Topshop | Wedge Parisian Original | Watch Omega | Cuffs Aldo | Ring Accesorize | Sunnies Glam Effect

I have loved maxi skirts for a long time. They always make me look tall. I admit I’m petite L and until now I still try to make ways for my bones to grow taller (maybe a couple of inches will already do). Haha! Spare me! Though I don’t have a closet full of it, I always see to it that I at least have a few on safe hues. Needless to say, maxi skirts or dresses should be in their suitable fabric. Most are made of light textiles to give you a weightless feel. But this maxi skirt I’m wearing is a bit heavy because it’s made of cotton wool.

Would you go grab some maxi’s already?

From too neat to feral smart, a good switch made for this post. It’s not much of a new thing because most fashion/style bloggers love to explore different impressions. Most would try something totally opposite of their personalities. What’s important is how you express every unique idea through the looks you carry. It’s just that some bloggers tend to have an impact on how their readers view fashion, style and trends. And it’s a good thing! Influencing your readers in a stylish way!

The look reveals a different piece of me. A leatherette black corset along with zebra print comfy shorts tells you what? Let me hear impressions!

PEARLS ON ME

Dress Class Club | Pearl necklaces most from Aldo | Gold chain bracelet Accesorize | Heels Parisian “Elegance” |

Last January 19, my cousin got married in Davao. I liked how fresh flowers were pinned to her veil matching her bouquet filled with fresh flowers. From my family, I was the only one with no role in her entourage. So I guess, that made me happy because that just means I can wear anything I want!

I went all black with my dress. Of course, a lovely sexy mid-high heels with a touch of metal bow. Isn’t it love? I am very much in love with it, actually. The first time I saw it and tried it on, I just had to ask quickly for my size!

For my avid readers, you may notice that I always go with looks that are refined and classy. I must say pearls are the answer! Even when I’m just on  plain polo shirt, a slick all-pearl necklace will make you look charming. Believe me! See to it, you have at least a piece in your jewelry box! With what I wore during the wedding, I piled up on different lengths of pearl necklaces. It definitely added volume to the get-up, right? No belt. Just a fine profile of black and white (with a touch of gold).

Thoughts? Other ideas on what to wear as a wedding guest?

CROCHET FEEL ON MY 22ND

This was during my birthday night. I thought of wearing all-glittery and shimmering for the night, but I ended up deciding on a one-piece plain teal silhouette. The dress was just as comfortable as my bed! I could lay down and sleep wearing it.  It’s now one of my favorites in my closet. I mean, I’ve used it twice already before my birthday but I still chose to wear it on my special day! It’s so useful. Daytime which I can wear with embellished flats, a large shoulder bag, a slim accent belt and leather accessories. For a night-out, simply remove the belt, choose a pair of sexy heels, hair down/up (any will do! No need for some serious hair make-over), classy accessories and, finally, go grab that one-of-a-kind clutch!

What do you think of the look?

I may have not prepared for my birthday, but special people in my life did not fail to make me feel complete and thankful! Thank you to my family, friends, relatives and readers! Hope you all had a wonderful day.

There are really times when girls choose to wear something as what our moods are. Apparently, I was feeling gloomy at work on a sunny day. I took this mood out on the colors I matched. From the shoes to the prints. But what made me look polished? It’s the metal texture of the bag and those leather stilettos! Aren’t they a combo?!

At that point, allow me to tell you some personal opinions on how you can overlook that not-so-good aura through what you wear. If you feel lazy and tired to have an unspoiled look, pile up on a nice outerwear. This could lessen your stack of accessories since (for me) Less is More. Another, put together different textures. This is if you want to go either loud and flashy or discreet but not limited! Finally, strike high with those heels! Wearing heels lifts your confidence, yes?

Every apparel you wear from top to bottom may make you feel boring and ordinary  if you keep on comparing yourself to icons but it always boil down to THAT poised attitude!

SUMMER ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Let me take your Christmas outfit to a different scene. Different in a way that I went away from the usual glittery, shimmering, sparkling, and even “flickering” appearance. So I’ve had this dress for severals days already and thought of wearing it during one Christmas party. Since all the Christmas meet-ups I attended to before the 25th were with friends and friends, I decided to wear attires that were more daring (basically because they’re in my range of generation, haha!).Meaning I chose this summer-y look for a party with my family and mother’s relatives.

No heels because I know parlor games were on the program’s list! Just something light, carefree and me!

Another thing, pastels were the colors I used in matching accessories. This is to flatter the feeling of weightless loving for Christmas.

P.S. Spare me with the low-res photos. These were all taken using my iPhone. :)

How do you like it?

A day where I met many new and old people. Morning and new personas were scheduled for me to have acquaintance with. I’m telling you, I’m not really good in having the right first impressions of  people but I still cope to get along with them! Over lunch, I had a date with my beloved funniest, most thoughtful, cute and optimistic high school friend, Mona Bianca. Haha! As always, it made my whole afternoon. She always makes me heart and face laugh, genuinely :D Whole afternoon was full of dramatic stories of our lives! Yet, we both managed to make fun of these stories.

This look was just as desirable as the day went by. A leopard-print top piled with an olive cotton vest? Looks good! I can move wildly — because it’s so soft! Classic black shorts and nude block heels are the ways to add simplicity. And of course, what do you expect from me when it comes to accessories? Gold! Gold! Gold! It either tones down, makes up or bring into line anything I wear. When I say anything I wear, it may be casual, classy, dressy, sexy, formal or messy.

                                                                       What do you think?
